"Uncensored" is the most over-promised word in this category. Every app has a floor - content that is illegal everywhere, and rules its payment providers insist on - and many that claim to be uncensored refuse, soften or lose the thread mid-scene. What we looked for instead: whether a character stays the same person deep into an adult scene, whether you can set limits that hold, what media costs, and how the company treats the most sensitive data you will ever give an app.

Nomi and Sweetdream also allow adult content, but you would choose them for other reasons - Nomi for memory, Sweetdream for its free tier. Not on this list: Replika blocks NSFW on accounts created after early 2023, and Kupid AI's characters lean affectionate rather than explicit.
The picks in more detail
Secret Desires - the best roleplay, with a privacy caveat. In our test it was one of the few apps still making sense twenty messages into a scene, and its builder covers looks, voice, personality and limits, which held. However, in November 2025 journalists found its cloud storage publicly accessible, exposing nearly two million images and videos - including explicit face-swaps of real women made with a feature the company later removed. The storage was locked after it was reported. If you use it, avoid uploading any images and treat everything you generate as potentially public. Details in AI companion data breaches.
Candy AI - the most complete package. Our overall first place because conversation, images of the same character and voice all work on one plan, and images stay recognisably the same person over a week. Heavy image use can hit a fair-use cap - see the real cost of AI image generation.
Camsoda AI - for people who want control. A six-step builder, including topics the character must never raise, and memory kept per character. The first minutes are noisy, and it is web only.
Joi - if price decides it. The lowest entry price in our ranking for uncensored chat, and the thinnest product: short replies and little memory. A way to try the category cheaply, not a place to stay.
Checks before you type anything explicit
- Use a separate email that does not contain your name. It is the single most protective step if data ever leaks.
- Never upload real photos - of yourself or anyone else. Sexual images of real people without consent are illegal in many places; see consent in NSFW AI chat.
- Check the billing name that will appear on your card statement - see payment privacy.
- Expect an age check, and choose the least invasive method offered - see age verification.
- Start monthly. Adult features change more often than any others, driven by payment providers and new laws.
Setting limits that hold
Adult roleplay goes best when you decide the boundaries before the scene rather than during it. Use the builder's limits field where it exists, add a line about pace and tone to the character description, and correct drift with an out-of-character note rather than an argument - the technique is in roleplay prompts that work.
