I pay for the plan, talk to the app for two weeks, then score it on the same five things every time. No paid placements. No ranking you can buy.
We may earn a commission from links on this page. It never changes a rating.

Trying the category for free
No app matches these filters.
Best for AI videos
Generates uncensored photos and videos of your AI girlfriend, while the text chat itself stays free, no card needed.
Cheapest way in
Uncensored chat at the lowest price. Everything else is missing or thin.
Best uncensored roleplay
Unfiltered, and still the same character twenty messages later.
Best for romance
Affectionate, real iOS and Android apps.
Best free start
Story-led and warm. The free tier lasted long enough to form an opinion, which is rare here.
Best overall
The only app where chat, images and voice all hold up inside one subscription - I used all three daily.
Best builder
Two hundred-plus ready-mades, then a six-step builder if none of them fit.
Best memory
Held a thread for weeks. Pictures are a side dish. The talk is the meal.
If you only read one page, make it the ranking. That is the short list: seven apps, what each is actually good at, and what it costs after the intro discount dies.
I do not skim a landing page and write a recap. I create a character, talk to it daily, and see whether it still knows my name on day twelve. Prices get checked on a paid account, not on the marketing site.
| What I score | What I am looking for |
|---|---|
| Conversation | Does it stay itself over weeks, not just one clever reply? |
| Memory | Does last Tuesday come back without me prompting it? |
| Media | Images and voice that belong to the same character |
| Price | Renewal cost, not the first-month teaser |
| Controls | Export, delete, and content settings you can actually find |
Want one subscription that covers chat, pictures and voice? Start with Candy AI. Want the conversation to feel like someone is still in the room a week later? Jump to Nomi. Not sure you want to pay yet? Sweetdream is the only free tier here that is not a demo.
The ranking is the shopping list. The reviews are the receipts. If a free tier is the whole question, start with Sweetdream or Replika. Method: how we test.
Paid account, daily use, at least two weeks. Same five scores every time: conversation, memory, media, price, and the controls you get over your data. I write the review after that, not before.
No. Some links are affiliate links, so I can earn a commission if you subscribe. The score is locked before anyone from the company talks to us. Details in the affiliate disclosure.
If you want the full kit in one plan, Candy AI. If you care about memory more than pictures, Nomi. If you want to test the category without paying, Sweetdream.
