Most of these apps greet you with “who are you and what do you like.” Sweetdream drops you into a situation and lets you answer into it. Over two weeks that made it the easiest one to come back to in the evening, even though it is not the most powerful on paper.

The free tier is the point
In this category “free” usually means twenty messages and a paywall. Here the chat stays open and the clamps fall on media first. That is the right order if you want to know whether you even like talking to an AI before you give anyone a card.
Where it falls behind
Memory is shorter than Nomi - a week-old detail comes and goes. The builder is thin next to Camsoda AI. Long sessions repeat phrasing more than the top three.

Someone who has never paid for one of these apps. Power users should skip to Nomi or Camsoda AI after a free week.
